It all started when 28-year-old Justin Halpern was dumped by his girlfriend and found himself living with his father, Sam, a 73 year old who is “like Socrates, but angrier, and with worse hair.”
Justin began to record all the moronic things his father said to him: “Son, let women figure out why they won’t screw you. Don’t do it for them.” More than a million people now follow Mr. Halpern’s philosophical musings on Twitter, and in Sh*t My Dad Says, Justin weaves a brilliantly funny memoir around the best of his father’s quotes. An all-American story that unfolds on the Little League field, in Denny’s and during excruciating road trips, this is a hilariously honest portait of a father-son relationship.

I loved it. I read it and wrote my own additions about my husband and sent it to one daughter and she read it and added her own additions and we have been laughing about it and adding to it for a year. A great read.

I agree with Marmar: "It's a bit overrated ... Yes, it can be amusing.. but after a while turns a bit pretentious and a 'we get it' read."

If you have a Dad that was in the military (Or husband), you will love this book! (The language). I laughed so hard tears ran down my face. Beyond the laughter, there is really good advice from his Dad that everyone could benefit from. This book does have a lot of bad words but it is written the only way it could have been! EXCELLENT job Justin. I would recommend.

It's a bit overrated in my opinion. Like one of those things that everyone else says is funny, so you have to think it's funny instead of forming your own opinion. Yes, it can be amusing.. but after a while turns a bit pretentious and a "we get it" read. Good beach book, buy it used if you can.
