Anna Keller’s daughter Bets, granddaughter Callie, great-granddaughter Deb, and great-great-granddaughter Erin are all convinced their matriarch, who is 112, will reach her goal to become the oldest living person in the world—and so is the geneticist who has come to Hill House in search of the thread that makes the Keller women thrive. But longevity isn’t the only mystery at the heart of Courtney Miller Santo’s compelling debut, The Roots of the Olive Tree. Anna has a powerful secret that comes into play when Erin returns from two years abroad pregnant and alone. Soon more revelations shake the foundation of this devoted clan as emotions run high and threaten the love that’s bound these extraordinary women all their lives.

I was interested in the subject of this story. The characters were interesting as well. But when I got to the last chapter I felt like the writer had left out a chapter. The plans to visit Australia to find Anna's mother never happened.

I felt this book was a little disjointed. It wasn't one that I had to force myself to finish but I did find my mind wandering as I read it. I wouldn't call it an engaging story.
