Wife 22

Meet Alice Buckle, Melanie Gideon’s unforgettable heroine in Wife 22. She is the spouse of William, mother to Zoe and Peter, drama teacher and Facebook chatterer, downloader of memories and Googler of solutions.

Maybe it was those few extra pounds she gained and couldn’t lose. Maybe it was because she was about to turn the same age her mother was when she died. Maybe it was because after twenty years of marriage she and her husband seemed to be running out of things to say to each other. But when an anonymous online study called “Marriage in the 21st Century” showed up in her inbox, Alice had no idea how it would change her life. It wasn’t long before she was assigned both a pseudonym (Wife 22) and a caseworker (Researcher 101).

Before the study, her life was an endless blur of school lunches and doctor’s appointments, family dinners, budgets and trying to discern the fastest-moving line at the grocery store. These days, she’s also Wife 22. And somehow, her correspondence with Researcher 101 has taken an unexpectedly personal turn. Soon, she’ll have to make a decision—one that will affect her family, her marriage and her whole life.

Sleeper
March 21, 2013

When I started reading, I wondered if I had made a mistake but thus book is a real sleeper. It just got better with each page. I loved the ending. We all need a little romance and when I finished, I just had to smile and say, AHHHH!
