Hidden Gardens of Paris

Discover the urban oases that give Paris its secret soul!

Arranged by area, from the Left Bank to the Right Bank and far beyond, Hidden Gardens of Paris is a gorgeously photographed guide to 40 beautiful, natural environments hidden in the heart of the City of Light. Off the beaten tourist track, you'll find the Jardin de l'Atlantique, far from the madding crowd on the roof of Gare Montparnasse...the grove of oak and maples that hides the children's carousel of the Square Boucicaut...the secret paths that lead to the Jardin de la Vallée Suisse, invisible unless you know where to look...the chestnuts that inspired Manet and Verlaine in the Square Batignolles...and more hidden treasures most visitors will never see!

Charming Stories!
July 06, 2012

If you are a francophile at heart, this book is full of wonderful stories sure to make you smile, dream and maybe even plan that first or return trip to Paris! If however, you are looking for gardening ideas to bring a bit of France to your own garden, this book definitely does not serve that purpose.

I love Paris and look forward to my next trip--I will have Susan Cahill's book along with me. Gardens are everywhere if you know where to look. This is not a book of flower photos, but a delightful guide to Parisian hidden treasures and their fascinating history. Delightful!

I bought this for a friend who loves Paris and is a big gardener. This is not of book of personal home gardens rather it features many historical public gardens and buildings and the history surrounding each of those spots. I found it very interesting reading the short chapters about each of the featured gardens and dreaming about someday visiting many of them. This is not a "how to" book,
