A most modern story of love and contemporary manners, The Time Traveler’s Wife has captured the hearts and imagination of reviewers, writers, and readers alike. Clare and Henry DeTamble are deeply in love, but as Clare says, “We are often insane with happiness. We are also very unhappy for reasons neither of us can do anything about.” The problem? It seems Henry—a librarian by trade—suffers from a rather distracting ailment. That’d be Chrono-Displacement Disorder. In laymen’s terms, the man time-travels. Uncontrollably. Zip, he’s in Indiana c. 1973, minutes or months later back home in the present (Clare’s present—in Chicago—that is) he could be sipping soup and then he’s back off again. “Get ready to be swept away.”—Elle “Chronologically impaired” as he is, Henry and Clare poignantly renew their love, again and again. His travels have taken him to her when she was just six, growing up in Michigan. Then forward to her teen years. He learns to know her in ways unimaginable to the rest of us—and deeply binding. Ironically though, when she finally meets him, at 20, he’s 28…and he doesn’t know her. But that situation will soon correct itself, and both they, and their well-drawn cadre of family and friends become very real to us. If this sounds like a gimmick, that’s our fault. Niffenegger’s writing transcends all, in this beautiful and cleverly constructed tale.

I could not put this book down it was very well written. I can say I really did not like the last couple chapters though, it just didn't keep me interested. I hope the movie is true to the story.

I thought the story was excellent. It shows that your soul mate is out there. Also the hardships of relationships. I cried at the end of the book, wasn't what I expected but very well executed. Highly recommend it!

I couldn't wait for it to end. Didn't care for the movie either. Maybe I'm just not the love story type, but I loved My Name is Red, which was a love story. This was, I guess, more "fun."

I loved the book could not put it down. It showed all of our human emotions. Some through the eyes of a child, and some from an adult not quite sure of what was happening Both Clare and Henry being at times confused as what is going to happen or when will it happen, made the anticipation for me the same.. I would recommend this to anyone who has a love for fun, love stories with a twist and a wonder of what would it be like......
