When a misbehaving Max is banished to his room without dinner by his mother, he does what any kid would love to do: he sails to a distant island populated by giant, freakish monsters who are every bit as wild as he is. Even better—they’re impressed enough by his ferocious claws and indomitable spirit to make him their king.
For decades, Maurice Sendak’s Caldecott Medal-winning picture book has been delighting folks of all ages who’ve ever fantasized about becoming lord of their own rumpus. So go ahead—let the wind fill your sail and take you to where the wild things are, then cut loose the monster within. Your porridge will still be hot—and your mother will still love you—when you get back. (All ages)

I purchased this story remembering it from when I was little and was not disappointed! I love how clever the author is in reversing the story line at the end and how it is actually only a few sentences long! My son had this memorized when he was 2 and we do a 'wild rumpus' dance through the three pages with no words!

This was one of my all time favorite books with I was little. I'm very excited to now share it with my son. This is always one of the books he picks out for our bedtime reading and it always makes me smile.

We've all heard it and maybe it was read to us when we were little. The same great story of Max and the Wild Things. Must have for any age.

My husband read this book about 30 years ago and he adored it. We bought it for my grandsons, this year, and they LOVED it. The 6 year old read it to me. It is a wonderful book that will be around, always.
