The reason Danielle Steel is considered one of the world's most popular authors is simple: Just when we think she's reached the pinnacle of her remarkable career, she presents us with yet another soul-searching, heart-stirring, irresistibly romantic page-turner.
As Sarah Sloane, prominent San Francisco socialite, surveys the Ritz-Carlton's glittering ballroom, she's convinced her celebrity-studded charity event is going to be a huge success—despite the uncharacteristically muggy weather. Just then, the room starts to sway....
On the scene of the devastating earthquake is Everett Carson, once an award-winning photojournalist, now on the payroll of a gossip magazine that wants him to get plenty of shots of Melanie Free, a young Grammy®-winner beset by rumor and innuendo. But in the havoc that follows, he's taken with a beautiful woman who steps in to administer to the fallen. Sister Mary Magdalen—Maggie to those who have been the recipients of her care is clearly in her element. Yet, like Sarah, Everett, and Melanie, she, too, is haunted by painful secrets. In the wake of the tragedy, all four are compelled to reexamine their lives and in doing so, they forge a bond that leads to new beginnings...and amazing grace.

I have every DS book in hardback and can't wait until the next book comes out. This was the worst DS book I ever read. The end left me feeling like she had rushed through and almost like she had lost interest and was trying to hurry and finish. I would not recomend this book to anyone. DS, try to come up with some new ideas!!

It seems these days that people who read DS books either love it or hate it. With this book..I absolutely loved it! I was sucked in right from the start and read it in about a day and a half! Kudos to DS for writing such a fantastic book!

This is the 1st Steel book I've purchased in at least 10 years and it falls short. I thought I'd never finish it but I did stick it out until the predictable ending. Get it in paperback or the library.
