Innocent in Death

It hasn't been a good day for Homicide Detective Eve Dallas. First, she had to investigate a death at an exclusive school—and schools of any kind remind her of a childhood she'd rather forget. Nor was it easy interrogating the two visibly upset 10-year-old girls who found their teacher dead on the floor of his classroom. And now things have gone from bad to worse…. Eve, “fresh” from viewing the corpse, is dining out with her extraordinarily sexy husband, Roarke, when they're approached by a blonde knockout he briefly flashes the wait-till-I-get-you-home look reserved exclusively, so she thought, for her!

Roarke readily admits Maggie Percell and he were lovers years ago, but insists it couldn't be more over. Too bad Maggie doesn't think so, which makes it that much harder for Eve to concentrate on the teacher who, it seems, was poisoned. When another instructor turns up dead, Eve has to figure out which suspect on her list—a seemingly distraught wife, the sultry school principal, more than a few querulous colleagues—is hiding behind a façade of innocence, all the while wondering whether Roarke is doing the same…. Explicit language and sex.

Why is this set in the future?
October 08, 2008

Having never read a book from the "in death" series, I wasn't sure what to expect. My question is this, why is this set in the future? One more mention of a 'link and I could have screamed. Somehow in the 52 years between now and the date of this book, forensics has not advanced??

Innocent in Deatth

I have to agree with Timothy N. It is getting tiring to hear Eve always running down Summerset. A little less profanity and sex would be great. Please relay info to J. D. Robb
