Say one thing for Stuart Woods, he writes a cracking good story! The bestselling author of the stylish Stone Barrington series keeps the pages turning at wrist-snapping speed with tightly plotted narratives, brisk, down-to-business dialogue and characters who leap into action like lit flash paper. In Mounting Fears, his latest heart-pounding thriller, Woods' talent for creating white-knuckle suspense begins with a title that says it all as President William Jefferson Lee's White House mobilizes for multiple crises.
Will's recurring nuclear nightmare may become a reality when invaders capture a missile silo in Pakistan and make off with a nuclear warhead. The death of his vice president during surgery couldn't come at a worse time, and the squeaky-clean governor Will has appointed to finish his term may have a few previously undisclosed skeletons in his closet. To make matters worse, Teddy Fay, the rogue CIA agent last seen in Shoot Him If He Runs, is plotting revenge on CIA director Kate Rule Lee—the president's wife. With the safety of the nation—and the world—at stake, Will can't afford distractions. But if his diplomatic efforts fall short, that loose nuke just might trigger World War III!

I disagree with the other reviewers - I also am a Stuart Woods fanatic and I thought this book was fantastic and a definite MUST READ I'll admit the ending was somewhat different, but I thoroughly enjoyed the book. I must say that I can't wait for the follow up

There are more loose ends in this book than I've ever seen. There is NO character, and there are ALOT of them, that has an end to their "story" in here. Lots of them just disappear somewhere. I think it's wrong for an author to leave loose ends like this just to try and get us to buy the next one or perhaps the next one. My hard earned money can go somewhere else.

I agree with the reviewers who complained about the poor editing and abrupt ending. The editor should have spent more time on this book--the obvious errors were distracting.
As I got close to the end of the book, I wondered how he would be able to wrap up the story line in the few pages left, I thought perhaps it would be continued into another book but instead it just ended abruptly. Disappointing!

I was extremely disappointed with this book. I have read all of Stuart Woods previous book and could hardly put them down until I was finished with the book. This one didn't hold my interest and I didn't like the ending. In the past if I seen the book was by Stuart Wood I bought it without reading what it was about. I will screen what I buy of his more closely from now on.
