After only three letters and one visit during her six-year marriage to Scottish cavalry officer Angus Wallace, Maddie has decided to build a life without him, setting sail across the Atlantic to photograph the American West.
After an injury ends his military career, Angus has come home to find his wife gone and he himself next in line to an earldom. His duty is clear: find his wife and sire heirs. But tracking her to Colorado is the easy part. Convincing his wife to return is another matter. Now, as Kaki Warner’s Runaway Brides novel Colorado Dawn unfolds—and Angus finds himself enchanted by his wife’s newfound spirit—he finds himself torn: between London or Colorado, between life as an earl or a pioneer…and between duty and desire.

Angus was such an interesting character! Between his 'dog' Tricks, and his accent, great looks, and powerful personality, it was hard not to wish you'd meet his double next time you drag through the grocery store. And Maddie was a perfect match for him. Also, I found her easy to relate to having had a black and white darkroom of my own several years back. As always Ms. Warner gives a realistic feeling to her old west backdrop as she takes you through the the highs and lows of Angus and Maddie's passionate and adventuresome romance. Can't wait for High Country Bride! Recommend.

Love this author. Well-written with a descriptive style. Makes you feel like you are a part of the story and living in the 1800's. I also like that she makes her main female character a strong, independent woman that can manage for herself. Good read.
