Harry Bosch swallows a bitter pill
Harry Bosch is called out to a San Fernando drug store where a young pharmacist has been murdered. The clues lead Bosch and the town's three-person detective squad into the dangerous, big-business world of pill mills and prescription drug abuse.
Meanwhile, an old case from Bosch's LAPD days comes back to haunt him. A long-imprisoned killer claims Harry framed him, and seems to have new evidence to prove it. Bosch's former LAPD colleagues aren't keen to protect his reputation, so he must fend for himself to clear his name and keep a clever killer in prison.
As the two cases wind around each other like strands of barbed wire, Bosch discovers there are two kinds of truth: the kind that sets you free and the kind that gets you buried.
